We interrupt this program
I only have a few non-Barbie dolls. The Barbies get most of the love but I wanted to interrupt my regular Barbie related post and give Yasmin, the Bratz doll, a little love!
I picked her up at a local thrift store for a mere 80 cents. She only had one shoe/foot. I removed it and stuffed her legs in Barbie boots. Worked like a charm. I think she's wearing a Mary Kate and Ashley Olson denim skirt and a Barbie top. I styled her braided updo and added the sunglasses.

Rubberband shoes
I like my dolls outfits to match their clothes. All of my Liv shoes are casual tennis shoes. I wanted to have cute shoes for her in a variety of colors. I came up with the idea of "rubberband shoes."
Rubber band bracelets are all the rage. It was very easy to make shoes using them. I crafted a sole and heel out of the recycled thin cardboard using this video. I painted and sealed with Modge Podge. Finally I used 6 rubberbands (3 each shoe) that I wrap around the dolls foot to secure and style. What could be easier?

Working Fireplace
I'd been planning in constructing a fireplace for a doll for quite a while. Last week I put my plan into action. Using a Ritz cracker box, scrapbook paper, Distress Ink, and a Spellbinders die, I created this fabulous working fireplace.
The flame is created with a battery operated tea-light candle available at most dollar stores for $1. Notice the photograph sitting on the mantle? That's me. I cut the image from an expired credit card!
Here Shannon and Teresa partake of wine and cheese while enjoying an afternoon fire.
Later Shannon and her man TJ enjoy some quite time together.

50th Anniversary Barbie
Last weekend I rescued this doll from the "donate" pile at a friends house! Of course she didn't look like this when I got her but I worked my magic and here she is. For the dress I used McCalls 6258 but omitted the shoulder straps and added my own little twist to it.
The shoes were originally pink but I colored them with an alcohol marker!
I styled her braided up do!
A great view of the dress and her signature "side eye" glance.
