Christmas 2015 Fashions

Although the Man Cave didn't have their annual "Ugly Sweater" Contest, they did have a "Wear Your Favorite Christmas Fashion" Soiree. The photographer was able to capture the ladies showing off their style.

The fashions above are newly created.

While some of the ladies were dressed quite elegantly...others were downright hideous!

Each lady received a special gift...

and posed for a group photo.

Some of the guys jump into the photo not to be totally left out!

A New Graphic Tee

I made Dena a new Graphic tee complete with rhinestone bling. Her jeans are black with a gold metallic coating. Unfortunately it doesn't how well in the photos. Of course I made both as well as the jewelry and the sunglasses!

A Partial Repaint

I have a half dozen Brandi's including two working Singing Holiday dolls. I've never liked her look. Thanks to my internet buddy Tamisha McPherson, I've been experimenting with repainting in particular partial repainting. I don't take the entire face off but rather leave the eyes intact. They are the hardest part to correctly repaint for me so I'm glad not to bother them. So here Brandi is before and after.

What do you think? Do you like her better before or after?

Doll Sweater Dress from Gloves

I'm always looking for a way to make fast and easy doll clothes. Previously I made sweater dresses for Barbie-sized dolls out of gloves.

I've also made doll sweaters from socks.

This time I made Dena a sweater dress from a pair of $1 gloves.

It was super fast and easy. I simply cut off the two center fingers and stitched a seam on the wrong side to be able to cut off the thumb.  For the remaining two fingers I cut off the ends to serve as sleeves. Instead of hemming the "sleeves" I roll them to make a cuff. By hand I stitched a narrow hem for the neck. Give it a try!

Graphic Tee shirts

I've been wanting top try my hand at making Graphic T-shirts for my dolls and yesterday was the day. I decided to make them for my guys first because I already had a t-shirt pattern that fits them well. After capturing images of my favorite teams and sports in Michigan, we gathered at the man cave for a photoshoot.

I love how them look and can't wait to get started on Graphic T's for the girls!

A New Doll and Playset

I used a gift card I've had since July to purchase a new doll and playset. She's a Grace from the Style line. She also has real lashes and the bending ankles allowing her to wear flats or heels.

While I really like the Gloria furniture, what I don't like is that the seats are always a little too low for Barbie dolls. This set was only $8.99  which I thought was very reasonable. I'm am sorry that Dena is too wide to be able to enjoy it.

Nikki Repaints

I've been trying my hand at repaints. After the successful repaint of Dena I decided to try repainting a few Nikki's. I have about five in my collections and am quite sick of her face.

From L to R...a partial repaint, full repaint because of wonky original eyes and untouched. What do you think. Thumbs up or thumbs down?

Boy Will Be Boys

I made this video very early in the summer but wasn't able  to upload it until today. I'll be adding regular doll videos now that I've figured out what the problem was. Hope you enjoy this.

Saturday Style

This is Miss Dena's Saturday look. Animal print and dark glasses add mystery to an otherwise ho-hum weekend.

My New Favorite Girl - Dena

I admit it. This is now my new favorite doll. Could it be because she is also my first successful repaint? No I didn't know what I was doing or why I chose to jump in on a doll that I didn't have nor would be able to find a replacement for. I guess I'm just crazy like that! Anyway I love her. Other than an extreme case of hair breakage...she's perfect. She shaped similar to me but as far as proportions goes, I'm taller, my arms aren't as long, neck isn't as thick and calves not as big. Maybe we don't have a similar build. Let's just say I'm closer to her proportions than I am to a Barbie doll. She's got curves and is not built like a teenage boy!

I plan on her wardrobe being as impressive as mine. Now I just need to learn to make doll wigs or how to install a doll weave! LOL. We had quite the photo session

A New Arrival

A new girl has moved into the house. My Dena arrived yesterday. She's a plus size girl. Of course she was stark naked and barefoot so I had to quickly make her an outfit and shoes as there are lots of men in the house. I wish I'd been able to get a Dasia but sometimes you just have to take what you get. I noticed there is a difference between the coloring of her body and face. Also as I was separating the curls in her hair several locks came off and some other are just disintegrating. Is that normal? At this rate I'm going to have to learn to reroot or make wigs.

I crocheted the top but need to tweak the pattern some. I added different color to her eyelids and lips. The shoes are made out of cardstock, craft foam and elastic. The necklace is one I made which all the dolls have to share. She made a quick stop by the Man Cave and  may have already found herself a man. She'll fit perfectly into another project I already have going.
